Chocolate Chippers ~ The Best Chocolate Chip Cookies…so far
I made a batch of these delicious cookies recently and fell in love with them all over again. They are definitely our favourite chocolate chip cookies. About 20 years ago, in the school yard, a kind mom shared some of her freshly baked cookies with me, while we waited for the kids to come out. They were fantastic and I told her so. She was eager to let me know that the “secret ingredient” was a packet of Instant Vanilla Pudding powder. I have no idea where she got the original recipe from but I can tell you that adding the vanilla pudding makes some pretty darn amazing cookies! Alas, it…

Carrot Pecan Breakfast Muffins
It’s been a while since I last posted on the blog… I’ve had a lot of technical issues with my desktop. It’s old and needs an intervention…or to be thrown out the window (I threaten to do this daily) lol. The big problem is that I can’t get my photos into the posts properly, it’s so darn frustrating. Chewy Choco Chips + Nuts Cookie Bars
Here’s one that’s an oldie but a goodie as they say… I tore this recipe out of a magazine back in my teenage years, when I first started taking a liking to cooking. So, it’s been around for a good 35 years. Yikes! My sister and I had a few recipes for cookies and bars that we learned to make on our own, like this one. I remember baking them often because they were pretty easy for a newbie baker with not a lot of kitchen skills or fancy tools. The bars were not very pretty, often with overcooked edges and definitely not picture worthy. But they were chocolatey, chewy,…

Spiced Up Cookies
How did you celebrate Canada Day? There were no grand celebrations to look forward to this year, thanks to this ongoing pandemic. So, I worked…and it was the busiest day at the airport since march! People are definitely travelling again. It’s a good thing…as long as everyone plays by the rules. Wear a mask! Let’s get this virus situation under control, so we can enjoy what’s left of our short summer. Now on to the cookies… Here’s a recipe for deliciously spiced cut-out cookies. These sweet treats are light tasting and hold up well to going for a dunk in your morning coffee or tea. Don’t let the modest, unpretentious…

Apple Snacking Cake {plant based/vegan friendly}
Are you stuck for a delicious dessert idea that will please everyone? Including your vegan family and friends, or anyone who’s simply not eating eggs or dairy? That’s what I needed this past week, while helping my vegan daughter and son-in-law move into their new condo. Because, let’s face it, there’s nothing quite like the smell of something yummy baking in the oven to make a new place feel like home. I came across a great recipe on Pinterest. With some tweaking and additions, I created my own version. We all loved it! And if you don’t need it to be vegan, just use regular milk and butter. Same delicious…
