Notes
Start your day the right way, with a Strawberry Pina Colada Smoothie.
Yes, I know, it kinda sounds like a cocktail, but I promise you it’s a breakfast drink.
I mean, I do love, love, love those delightful cocktails, so it should come as no surprise that this smoothie is a favourite of mine.
Who are we kidding, I’m sure that’s where the inspiration came from. LOL
However, this is in fact a nutritious and good for you, meal in a glass.
It’s also delicious.
And, this winning combo of flavours really does work just as beautifully in a smoothie as it does in a cocktail.
I always make my morning smoothies with all/ mostly frozen fruits, because they help to create a nice, thick consistency.
But of course you can always use fresh fruit only, in which case you should add a few of ice cubes to compensate.
As for the addition of yogurt, which one you use is up to you.
If you follow a vegan diet, make it with a plant based yogurt that is high in protein, and if you eat dairy then choose a traditional Greek yogurt.
Using a coconut or pineapple flavoured yogurt elevates the taste that much more.
You can also use strawberry yogurt, but I find that too much strawberry overpowers the coconut and the smoothie looses that island vibe we are going for here.
Now, go and give this a try. It’s a fantastic way to start your day.
Cheers!
